I love this kettle. I chose this one against others because the price was heavily discounted at the time. It's fairly lightweight compared to a lot of kettles I've had, and the handle is really comfortable. It boils fast and is much quieter than any kettle I've had before. I love the styling - very attractive - though it is large, but if I'd wanted a small kettle I'd have bought one. I'm not going to criticise something for being exactly as it looked before I handed over the money! I do sometimes find it a little annoying that it boils for so long before switching off and if I'm standing at the kettle I often switch it off myself rather than leave it - a small niggle, not enough to put me off buying another. The only other thing is that for some reason the steam sometimes condensates in the handle and then drips out of the bottom of the handle - rather strange and doesn't happen all of the time - I haven't investigated properly but it could just be just my particular kettle.
All in all, I'm really happy with the kettle and would be happy to purchase as a gift for family/friends. I know some reviewers are upset when their kettles develop a fault after a year or more - I use my kettle many, many times every day so if after a year or so it developed a fault I would consider that I had had my money's worth and wouldn't be all that upset about it. Yes - landfill's a problem, and a separate issue that we have to deal with, but heavily used items are simply not going to last forever. So, why four stars - well, five stars would suggest perfection and whilst I do actually think my kettle's not far off perfect there are just the couple of niggles mentioned. Four and a half stars would be fair.

Happy with this kettle purchase., 2010-03-14
After our old kettle failed we consulted Which? best buy for a replacement. The Russell Hobbs was recommended and Amazon was offering a competitive price so we immediately purchased. Delivery came within a few days and we were pleased with the on line buying experience! We find this kettle less noisey than our old model and can live with it but some people may find it a little noisey depending on what they have been used to.
