As with most electrical items I buy it took me a while to decide which one to get. What decided me in the end was the fact that I could measure the water in cups and if I only needed one cup then that's all I needed to fill it with. It is fairly quiet, with a scale on both sides so good for left handers like me. The lid flips up by pressing a button at the top of the handle making it easy to fill. The filter is easily removed for cleaning. Some reviews have said that the water tastes funny initially but if you follow the instructions for the first use and always make sure that before boiling more water the kettle is emptied of old water, then the water doesn't have a chemical taste.

wish I'd bought one before!, 2010-03-11
When this beautiful machine arrived, I was a bit alarmed at the size! it's 39cm/15"+(including feeder tube), 26cm/10" wide, 19cm/7"+ deep. however, it makes the most delicious fresh fruit/veg juice. Worth getting the bigger stronger machine cos it takes most fruits whole or without much chopping (pineapples, etc obviously need more!) so there's a lot less work, and it does everything it says it does. To make smoothies etc you also need a blender - (Philips make an excellent hand-held one). Although parts do go in the dishwasher, the plasticky parts must go in the top level, and some parts are too tall for that, so not all go in dishwasher. As with all juicers, it does take a lot of fruit/veg to make the juice, but it's worth it - feels like a real health boost, and I'm looking forward to treating everyone in the summer with iced smoothies!!

I was looking for a good value blender and this fitted the bill perfectly. I mostly use it for making smoothies - it is quick and really easy to clean, just what I needed.

I didn't intend to get a hand blender with jar attachment--already have the latter in the form of a min-blnder. but the mini-blender is now up for grabs, because this product does a much better job. And, it is easy to clean.

For those of you that are like me; that hate winter and as soon as you wake up you feel even more tired than you was when you went to bed; then this fine product could be just the thing for you. I hate winter; dark nights and dark mornings seem to put me into a mild depression. I wake up; feel rubbish; struggle to get out of bed; feel depressed, moody and negative. This is how I feel for most of the winter and it got so bad that I started to wonder if I was bi-pola. Then I over-heard someone talking about light therapy and how a S.A.D light could help improve my state of mind during the winter months. I was skeptical to say the least but I was that fed up I was willing to try anything. After some window shopping; I finally decided to buy this product and how happy I was when I found out that it actually worked. Now I find waking up and getting out of bed so much easier when its dark in the morning. No longer do I feel moody and my depressions have certainly been reduced.

The whole idea of this light is that it tricks your sleeping brain into thinking it is summer instead of winter. For example if you set the alarm for 7am .... the light will come on at a very low level at about 6:30am. Over the next 30 minutes the light slowly builds up in brightness until at 7am it is at its brightness. At this point a relaxing alarm sounds. You have a choice in sounds and I chose the birdy alarm sound which obviously sounds like a load of cheeping birds that you would usually hear in summer. I have now been using this product for over 4 months and I am pleasantly suprised at how effective this light works. Upto now I have had no problems with this product and I am using it every day.

ironing a pleasure, 2010-02-22
I did a 'Which' review on irons and decided to have a go on this Philips iron. You can buy a cheap steam iron - i know because i've had a couple - they leak, the sole plate gets worn and sticky - useless. This one is great. I don't like ironing and anything that makes it a bit easier gets my vote. It is the best iron I've ever had.

I like these little candle lights very much I charge by day and they last quite a few nights before they need a recharge. No instructions with them is the only downfall but no difficult to sort out. On other reviews that I read before buying said the charging light went out when fully charged I didn't find that to be the case with mine. The charging light never goes out no matter how long I charge them for. I like the lovely warm glow they give off and the gentle flicker.
