Expensive but Well Worth It!!!, 2010-08-09 I absolutely love this grill - although I have to preface this review by saying that I have only had 2 grills previously, both George Foreman and I found them awful!
Firstly, appearance! It looks very stylish, so for those of you who don't want more ugly plastic kitchen junk cluttering your kitchen, this is your grill.
It's very easy to use, obviously you should always read the manual before using, but it's not rocket science! To turn it on, you simply select if you want to use the Grill or Griddle and adjust the temperature. The light on it will go from red (in heat up) to green when it's at the right temperature.
So far we have cooked bacon, chicken, beefburgers, pork steaks, kebabs and warmed up buns on the plates for the burgers (great to mop up a few of the juices from cooking). The only thing that didn't work as I'd hoped was the veg kebabs - I ended up eating scorched but still ultimately raw veg! This was my mistake though, I find it easier to cook these in the closed position now. The floating hinge is brilliant, keeping the plates flat on chunky steaks, burgers etc. It will normally cook food very quickly in the closed position which is great. We bought the grill because using the oven heats our flat up horrendously, not nice in the summer. This grill can get very hot if you want it to, but cooks so quickly you only need to use it for a short while and it doesn't create nearly as much heat as the oven.
My favourite two things to cook are chicken burgers (slice chicken breast in half horizontally and bash it out to about 1 cm thick then pop it on the grill on medium for around 2-3 minutes (in closed position, still check it's cooked through, but this is generally more than enough!). Pop it on a freshly toasted ciabatta roll with some lettuce, mayo and cheese, yum! Also homemade beefburgers (make them short but thick as the weight of the top plate will squidge them down a bit) just 500g beeg mince, egg and onion (and chilli if you like) mixed together with seasoning. Takes around 5 minutes on the griddle on medium in the closed position. Put it in a toasted bun with ketchup, better than maccy ds!
The 2 types of plates (flat and ridged) easily clip in and out of place and can go in the dishwasher - they generally clean up brilliantly in the dishwasher, but a damp cloth will remove any food residues that the dishwasher leaves on very easily.
This is an expensive grill, but it's just brilliant and definitely worth the money. It saves us masses of time over using a griddle pan (which never cleaned up as well), saves the heat from the oven and faster than that too. This is definitely the summer cooking accessory for hot homes! The only thing I would say is it probably isn't as healthy as a George Foreman, due to the higher heat and being flat instead of sloped (to drain the fat off) but it tastes much better with the juices in it rather than being drained off.

soup made easy, 2010-08-13 The bad weather this week has bought my mind back round to winter days and hot soup! Soup making is a bit of a family event in our house as we take turns each week of chosing a new soup to try. So when I saw this new gadget it seemed the perfect family treat. As an experienced soup maker I guess the question was how much difference does this really make to using a good old saucepan and hob? The great thing about this is the fact that you do not have to transfer the ingredients to blend. I once did this with too hot soup and the blender lid burst off scalding me in the process. With the soup maker all blending, cooking and stirring is done easily in the one machine. To be honest cleaning could be easier, but I decided that all the plus sides made that not worthy of dropping a star. I would definitely recommend to the expert or novice, give it a go, experiment with ingredients you will not be disappointed and neither will your families!

Waffles, anyone?, 2010-09-07 Waffle makers seem to be one of those items that wind up collecting dust. Not this one, I use it every weekend. It heats up quickly and evenly, the waffles come out perfectly every time. I do brush a bit of oil on the grids before I heat it up, but I have forgotten to do this a few times and the waffles still didn't stick. It makes a large waffle with four sections for easy sharing. I'd guess it takes me about 15 minutes to cook a whole batch of waffles once I've made the batter. There's a handy chime that tells you when they are done, so you don't forget the last one after you've sat down to eat. I also freeze the leftover waffles (if there are any), as they heat up nicely in the toaster for a quick breakfast during the week. Highly recommended.

It also allows you to prepare sauces, dips, drinks and baby food and is suitable for both hot and cold food. The top of the lid has two holes, which you can drizzle oil through. Kitchen Helper, 2010-08-30 I have a full sized Morphy Richards food processor which I mainly only pull out for making pavlova. The majority of my baking can be done by hand with occasional help from a Kenwood hand mixer. However I really needed an appliance to do jobs that quantity-wise were too small for the main food processor - eg curry pastes, pestos etc. This cusinart mini food processor definitely fills the gap and I have no complaints so far. Really handy for small finicky mixing, blending or chopping jobs. Easily to assemble, disassemble and clean. Perfect size, sits on the counter ready for action.

well priced and easy to use., 2010-08-15 I have previously tried a cheaper maker, but there was so much pfaffing around that I gave up. This little darling is very well priced, and extremely easy to use. I have used it with Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream & Desert book which has simple and delicious recipes, which in conjuntion with this machine make for dreamy ice-cream. I confirm points made by other reviwers - you need lots of space in your freezer for the bowl - (chest freezers are best), and the ice-cream is initially too soft for immediate consumption. The best results come from a further 24 hours in the freezer - giving a lovely, soft and smooth consistency. The machine is noisy during operation, but you only need to run it for 20 to 30 minutes - and I stick it in the porch when it is running! If you do this too, get a manual timer to remind you it is running and it needs to be switched off!
I highly recommend this machine.

Cuisinart Yet Again !, 2010-08-07 I took my time choosing which ice cream machine to buy. I have several other cusinart products but still did my homework. I like the fact that you don't need to add alcohol or anything to the machine. Some reviews complain about the machine being too noisy. I have a bread making machine, food processor, blender and chopper etc. The ice cream machine does not make much more noise than any of these. It only runs for 45 mins and then you have fantastic home made ice cream. I have only had the machine for a few weeks but love it. I bought it initially to make ice cream for my grandchildren who are coming over from the states. I am sure they will be as impressed as we are. Easy to use, easy to clean and easy on the eye.!

Slow-burner, 2010-04-18 I was very interested to read the review complaining about the fact that this 'slow cooker' cooks things too fast. After several uses I have found it to be excellent - my only (very minor) quibble is that it is larger than the average model and takes up quite a lot of room on the kitchen surface, however to compensate for this the bowl is massive too, and it will easily cook enough casserole/porridge/soup etc for 8-10 people, rendering it ideal for dinner parties (and very large families!) I also liked the fact that the bowl and lid are dishwasher-proof, but was slightly disappointed that the steel body gets very hot so needs to be kept well away from the edge of your kitchen surface. I suppose this is par for the course but it would be even better if this could somehow be remedied.
I chose this model for its capacity, the reputation of Cuisinart, and its pleasing brushed stainless steel body. I am pleased to say that it looks as impressive as it does in the picture above, and is definitely worth the (fairly hefty) price - unless it breaks in the next 24 months in which case I will amend this glowing review.
