Average rating of 1/5 Worst junk I ever bought, 2010-08-29
I bought this breadmaker because I liked the looks, and programme versatility. I sincerely wish that I'd never bothered. It is, in short, junk, crap!
I have used it three times. The first time I got an almost flat lump of warm putty - my fault, I accidentally set it to rapid bake. The second time, the machine stopped part way through and left me with a lump of dough that I ended up finishing off in the oven.
The third time I used it, the element exploded. Now you might say, at this point, that I should have returned the machine to Amazon for replacement. Of course I should, but since a replacement element cost me less than £7, it was a more attractive idea than the hassle of packing it up and waiting for it to be collected and returned.
So, I bought the element, which (the vendor says) is a moderately easy job to complete. It isn't!
No guidelines were offered with the replacement element, and a thorough search of both the internet and youtube have produced no references at all, and the casing seems to be a bit like a monkey puzzle, so no obvious way of disassembly. Overall, I have been unable to find any service manual online, so that appears to be the end of that. This box of tricks will be on its way to the dumpit site next time I'm out. Given that I only got a half-cooked loaf out of it, a loaf of bread is costed out at about £75. We live and learn, fortunately, although I hate losing money, this exercise will not bankrupt me!
So, please heed my warning. The Panasonic 255 might not look as nice, but at least it produces decent bread time and time again. If you're buying a breadmaker, avoid the Kenwood, buy a Panasonic. I'll never buy anything with the 'Kenwood' name again...

Average rating of 5/5 Brilliant breadmaker, 2010-08-30
Having researched just about every breadmaker on the market, I settled on this one.
Excellent in every way, especially the viewing window so that you can check on progress.
It helps if you slightly oil the paddle, making the bread easier to remove without a hole in the bottom.

I also made jam with some leftover strawberries - it tasted fine but the texture was a little heavy, not like normal jam consistency.

The recipe book which comes with the machine is clear and informative with excellent pictures and a good selection of recipes.

Average rating of 1/5 Doesn't work!, 2010-08-28
I chose this model because it would fit in well with my kitchen and because of the good feedback it had recieved. However mine worked for a total of 10 minutes and then stopped. It is showing all sorts of error codes everytime you swictch it on. So until I get a replecement that actually makes bread, I am bound to give it just 1 star.

Average rating of 2/5 Disappointing, 2010-09-02
This is really disappointing. Instuction book has to be downloaded - not supplied. The display, though large, is difficult to read as the LEDs are all illuminated all the time in various shades of pink, lilac, blue and green. The blue is what you need to read. The basic brown and white programmes over-prove the bread so the top puffs up too much and then collapses on cooking. The quick programmes for white and brown are actually much better. and - it interferes with the kitchen radio! It is programmable, which should be a plus, if you can cope with the display for long enough to enter all the stages without getting lost.

Average rating of 3/5 Kenwood, 2010-08-24
I have had mine for about a year now and overall am very pleased. My only complaint is that the bread really seems to stick to the kneading paddle. Excellent results on all recipes even the fast bake of 58 minutes makes a good loafKenwood BM450 Bread Maker with Ingredients Dispenser
