 Works and is fast, 2010-03-06
Brought this kettle to replace old one which had build up of limescale and broken filter.
This one boils very fast and is very easy to refill, no leaks so it does its job which is to boil water.
The only downside is my filter is already slightly damaged.

This kettle lived up to the reviews. Quick boil, quiet, and boils small amounts or the amount you require for the pot with easy measuring gauge. My only quibble is the spout (with the filter) is a slow pourer and for filling quickly. However, once you get used to it, no problem.

I ordered this kettle for my mum who is a kettle connoisseur. This seller was the cheapest and offered free delivery. Am happy to recommend, as delivery was immediate and hassle free. My mum is delighted with the kettle, it has a rapid boil and has a measure gauge in cups rather than litres which is very helpful.
Almost as good as my 15 year old kettle, 2010-03-07
I bought this to replace a 15 year old Russell Hobbs Millennium kettle. The Millennium kettle lasted 15 years so it was a very good kettle. I was quite surpised to find the Philips kettle was not quite up to the standard of the Millennium.
The thing that disappoints me the most is the water level indicator being so hard to see on the Philips. Are Philips designers stupid? Why did they have to colour the indicator making it so hard to see what the water level is?
It is also a little bit heavier than my old kettle but still much lighter than stainless steel kettles, which weigh about twice as much as this weighs. Also the kettle does get very hot on the outside, much hotter than my old kettle used to. There's nothing "Energy Efficient" about letting heat escape into the surrounding area.
There are also some things this kettle does very well. It boils water fast and doesn't make too much noise. The lid is very easy to open. The on/off switch is much easier to operate than my old kettle. I also had no problems with any plastic taste that a few reviewers moaned about.
If you buy this kettle you will get a kettle that is almost as good as a 15 year old kettle. It would have been better however if Philips had concentrated less on style and more on being able to see the water level.
Good quality product, 2010-02-28
Since the packaging of the kettle wasn't secure enough, I was very concerned at first about the impact it might have caused to the kettle expecting an unpleasant surprise, and here it is - another reliable Philips kitchen appliance I have acquired for my household - it works perfectly, it looks nice inside and out. The water boils in no time. A very reliable Philips kettle at a very good price.
I would recommend this product.
