 service from Amazon and item brilliant, 2010-03-09
I would like to say that the service from Amazon was excellent. I live in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus and we often have problems with delivery. The Actifry turned up well packed and arrived within a reasonable time.
I ordered two Actifry`s - one for a friend and one for myself. We are both very impressed. You really do only need a spoonful of oil to fry a generous double portion of delicious chips. You can afford to use really good quality oil too. The chips do not taste dry and are delicious. I cook mine for 4 minutes in the microwave first and then it takes 32 minutes to cook them in the Actifry. The machine is not too noisy, the equipment stays very clean as you are using so little oil and usually just needs a wipe-out with kitchen paper. Its not a huge piece of equipment and all the important bits can be put in the dishwasher.
I have also cooked pork chops with roast potatoes and was very pleased with that too. Looking forward to trying some of the other recipes, but I wish there were more of them.

If only this product would last more than a year it would be excellent. Sadly after 10 months it gave up the ghost. Shan't be replacing and will avoid Tefal in the future.
Tefal Actifry, 2010-03-11
I bought my Tefal Actifry about a year ago and I use it about once a month. It makes lovely chips. Peel(no more than)a kilo of potatoes and cut into chips or wedges, give them a good rinse to remove the starch, then pat dry. (I spread the wet chips on a clean dry tea-towel and use another one on top to remove as much moisture as possible). Place the chips in the pan and sprinkle the spoonful of oil over the top. Close the lid and set the timer for 35 minutes and then press start. An important point to note is that the timer is independant and doesn't turn off the cooking when the time is up so food will burn if left. The non stick pan is easy to wash. The earlier model had some complaints because some were reported as having caught fire, but I own the newer design that has a fanned vent at the rear. I haven't experienced any problems at all.

Excellent piece of cooking aid, clean and healthy eating. The service by amazon was first class, it was delivered from the UK to Spain within a few days.
 Great until it started burning and sparks flew out the back, 2010-03-07
Had our Actifry for 9 months and it has been great while it worked. Makes fantastic chips but tonight it blew up! black smoke bellowing out the back along with sparks. I had read stories of this happening and thought it was over exaggerated but now I don't. It's a huge safety issue and I would not recommend this product unless you are prepared to stand next to it to pull the plug out.
