Average rating of 3/5 Not Bad, Not Brilliant, 2010-05-06
Like so many here, what I really wanted was the Cuisinart waffle maker, but I couldn't justify the £60 price tag. So, I bought this waffle maker despite the warnings.

It makes waffles, there's no mistaking that! If you don't mind a few quirks to your purchase you will be happy with this purchase, which after all I have to say, does makes me evenly baked waffles.

I knocked one point off because this waffle maker does indeed fill with steam - making the crispness meter impossible to read. This isn't an issue as I doubt you'd touch it again once set-up (I set mine to 4 for crisp waffles), but I wonder about the hygiene angle of steam full of food particles sitting in the inside of the machine time after time.

I knocked another point off for the terrible instructions which barely tell you anything about using the waffle machine let alone deigning to offer you a recipe.

I didn't knock a point off for the poor spill prevention measures that mean if you fill the maker up enough to get a perfect shaped waffle, you are 1 ml away from mixture leaking out of the device. I figured that this isn't a huge deal in the scheme of things...

If these annoyances will bother you then get the more expensive Cuisinart or James waffle makers. If not, I don't see why this machine should offer you anything other than well cooked waffles time after time...

like other purchasers I bought this after reading favourable reviews, and I have other great De'Longhi products working well...but...
Initially it appeared to perform well; we enjoy waffles on an occasional basis and this seemed great, but despite light usage (probably not even once a month actually) the De'Longhi waffle maker has not stood the test of time.
First of all the little temperature guide window misted up...a sign that the unit is not well sealed...then it appeared that one of the elements was not heating up as much as the other; we persevered and flipped our waffles to crisp up both sides... next was flickering indicator lights...then no lights... and then we shouldn't have been surprised when both elements failed, leaving me with a jug of batter and resorting the frying pan.
I emailed De'Longhi customer services and got a very polite reply saying that as the product was out of the one year guarnateee (just) they would be prepared to let a recommended De'Longhi engineer look at it for me.
Unfortuantely the distance of the nearest such engineer was too far to make it worthwhile. C'est la vie. I could not recommend this product.De'Longhi WR30 Electric Waffle Maker, 650W

Average rating of 2/5 Works well with electricity!, 2010-06-19
This is the third De'Longhi Waffle Maker we have had, the other two lasted a number of years, unfortunately this one only lasted a day. The first waffle made - then thrown away as per instruction book - was fine but the power failed even though the mains light was on.
Having used a small sized frying pan for some time I have become a dab hand at tossing waffle mixture in pancake form, in view of that I decided to decline the exchange offer and had a refund.

I must add a word of thanks to Amazon at their prompt service to my complaint.

Average rating of 1/5 What a load of waffle!, 2010-09-02
After a trip to the US I wanted to be able to have waffles at home, so I bought this waffle maker thinking it was a good price, and looked easy to use and clean.

When it arrived I was very happy with it, it's very easy to use (if not so easy to clean) and made good waffles, evenly cooked on both sides. However, I've had it a little over 6 months now and it's broken. The connection between top and bottom is very wobbly and the cooking plate in the top half has stopped working correctly, leaving half burnt and half uncooked. The dial also fills up with steam, as does the rest of the machine if you're unlucky which just leaves you with soggy waffles. And no-one likes soggy waffles.

I would recommend paying that little bit extra if you don't want to have to replace your waffle maker every few months, which is what you'd have to do with this one.

De'Longhi have a well designed and well built product. It is simple to use and is solidly constructed. It cooks evenly, has good clear indicator lights, and I appreciate the clear audible indication when cooking is complete. It is generally easy to clean. Having quite deep plates, there is small risk of overflow compared with other waffle makers, so this reduces the amount of cleaning required. The latch is well placed, and does not get hot while waffles are cooking. With care, one can balance a plate on top of it, so the plate is warmed while the waffle is cooking.
