What other people say about this product
Average rating of 5/5 Fabulous quick cooking, 2010-05-05
I bought this pressure cooker after reading all the reviews. It has lived up to all my expectations. I agree that the booklet is basic that accompanies the cooker, but have discovered Lorna Sass, who has a blog, you tube videos plus some fantastic recipe books.

I have made soups, beef stews, curries in minutes rather than hours.

Buy Lorna Sass books with the cooker & you will not look back. And go for the largest you can afford, bigger is better in this case!!

Cooking Under Pressure

Pressure Perfect

Average rating of 5/5 Excellent quality, easy to use, 2010-08-09
As a fairly experienced cook, I'd been considering buying a pressure cooker for a while. When I finally took the plunge I chose this one (on special offer!) and am not disappointed. It's extremely easy to use, packed full of safety features, and both lid and pan can go in the dishwasher (minus the detachable lid handle). I'm still experimenting with pressure cooker-specific recipes, as well as adapting my own extensive recipe collection, but I'm having great success with Indian food (dal down from 1.5 hours to 6 minutes, potato and cauliflower curry in just 3 minutes' cooking time). I'd definitely recommend a pressure cooker to anyone considering it (and with enough storage space), and this one specifically for its ease of use and safety features.

Average rating of 2/5 The seal keeps breaking, 2010-04-29
So bought this pressure cooker at the end of 09, since then without using to toch I'm finding that a small rubber seal that is used to control the pressure in the cooker keeps breaking, I'm now onto my third of these.
Though initial reports from the cooker were good it has gone down hill rapidly since we first used it,
I have contacted the manufacturers and they say there is little they can do and that these seals should last years, by my reckoning they go after about 15 to 20 uses, so if you are only planning to use this cooker about 10 times a year then this is the perfect option for you otherwise I would think twice

Average rating of 5/5 Foolproof pressure cooker for a beginner!, 2010-07-15
I've been considering getting a pressure cooker since January 2010, following an article in The Guardian's Word of Mouth blog. I've never used one before or seen one in use so I had a long debate over whether to get a cheap one to see if I used it, or a more expensive one which will last longer and, hopefully, be foolproof. I settled on this WMF one because of the Amazon reviews and I'm so pleased I did!

I bought a vegetarian pressure cooking book at the same time as I bought this and they both arrived together. I was rather daunted by the pressure cooker instruction book (in several different languages and therefore rather thick) but when I read the English instructions and looked at the diagrams it didn't look too difficult so I got stuck in with a red bean recipe.

The cooker is heavy duty and great quality with a good solid base - important apparently if you don't want rice to "catch". The handle locks on with an easy-to-use slide mechanism. The pressure indicator is easy for a total newbie to understand and there were no strange noises or whistles as the cooker came up to pressure. It was easy to adjust the heat so that the high pressure was maintained. Once the cooking time is up, the cooker is removed from the heat and can't be opened until the pressure drops (indicated by the pressure "button" subsiding). At all times it felt totally safe - yes, I've read the stories about exploding lentils! - and the results are brilliant. As I'm a vegan I tend to eat a lot of pulses and grains and these cook perfectly in this pressure cooker - better than with "normal" cooking methods. I've used this for three dishes so far - a bean dish, brown rice, and a split pea dish - and all have been excellent. I can see myself using this cooker frequently from now on and recommend this make and model.

Average rating of 5/5 Easy to use, excellent quality and performance, 2010-09-07
I use this pressure cooker several times a week. It has really changed the way we eat, especially on weeknights. Of course you can use it for meats, particularly stews, with significant time savings. I primarily use it for vegetarian meals. You can cook a pot of chickpeas from dried in less than 45 minutes, which is amazing. Sweet potatoes in less than 10 minutes, potatoes for mash in the same amount of time. I bought an excellent cookbook by Lorna Sass, which has helpful charts and cooking times. The most surprising dish to come out of my pressure cooker so far is risotto. It takes about 4 minutes of cooking once the pressure has been reached to make risotto. Revolutionary. This is the first pressure cooker I have owned, so I can't compare it to other styles, but it is very easy to clean and operate. I would highly recommend it.
