We bought this toaster following a favourable 'Which?' review. It is robust, reasonably quick and does what we wanted it to do. It is at its best when toasting two slices of bread at once. We find that when toasting a single slice it tends to over-brown one side of the slice in comparison with the other. This is our only criticism.

Kettle takes a little while to boil and is a little noisy compared with our previous Tefal however the toaster is good and both items look great. Very good value when compared to the other similar sets on the market

Because of other good reviews, decided to give this toaster a go. Sad I know, but this toaster arrived yesterday and I LOVE IT!

Great design, with retro feel - very sturdy and robust. Good firm lift on the toaster, crumb tray strong and smooth, dial positive. Takes a few uses to get to know how long to set for personal preferences, but that is always the case and obviously once elements heated subsequent toastings timing can be reduced - but that has been a commom problem with all the toasters I've previously had. At least with this toaster you can lift for a quick peek without cancelling the programme and restarting - how many times have I wasted bread as its restarted the programme when I've plunged the toast back in and I've not reduced the toasting period to accommodate the previous time! :/

I haven't found the ticking timer overly loud or irritating but the 'ping' is sufficiently loud to alert.

It's the most solid small kitchen appliance I've bought in decades. Great value at well under £30 including delivery. I'm smitten!

At last, after many tries, I have found a toaster that actually produces edible toast without having to keep turning the bread round half way through! I have tried all thicknesses and ages of bread, and can find no fault at all. I shall look at other Breville products from now on.

We've had it for around 2 years now and it's toasted every slice to perfection, so far. We've never had a problem fitting thick bread or even toasties in it, I really can't see what the fuss is about.

It is large and takes up a fair bit of space on the worktop but how many 4 slice toasters don't?

My only complaint is the slowness of it, right from the start it has taken a good three and a half minutes, a bit annoying if your in a rush in the morning but I have adjusted my breakfast routine to take it into account (bung the toast in before you put the kettle on, no biggie).

Looks good, easy to clean and does a propper job.... nice one

So pleased to have purchased the De'Longhi Scarlet toaster. It toasts to perfection and looks wonderful in my kitchen. I can't wait for my matching kettle to arrive!! I know they are more expensive than most but they are so worth it! Take the plunge!!

This toaster is very good. We toast thick, thin and home made bread. This toaster does a very good job. Good at crumpets too, just a shame the "high lift" leaver does not lift a bit heigher.

Finally a toaster that I can fit Warburtons Toastie bread into!

Also, it toasts the bread very evenly.

So full marks from me.

One consideration though - the metal casing does get very hot, so kids could burn themselves on it.
