Why get a small toaster that can only do 2 slices of small bread when you can get this one?
I often bake my own bread so it works with larger slices also-unlike small toasters.
Operations are simple and finish is stylish. Far better than the heavy bulky Amercican inspired designs, that cost 2x as much.

Fast and furious, handle with care!, 2009-11-18
Bought after seeing the Gadget Show tests and reading reviews and have not been disappointed.

Pros. Produces excellent toast with crisp outside and a soft centre even with thin slices. Metal strip heating elements give very fast and fairly even toasting. Easy to adjust, which is important*. Deepest slot of any domestic toaster seen with a large toasting area so it can handle virtually all loaf shapes, even tall ones; despite what 'Which?' says!. Best hi-lift of any toaster so easy to retrieve small slices, no more poking about with knives.

Cons. Differential toasting of each side is caused by the metal strip heating elements on one side lying flat on the supporting substrate while those on the other side loop across away from the substrate. The former don't glow as hot as the latter causing the differential toasting. Check inside that both sides are the same before buying.
*The fast toasting makes the Krups more sensitive to the moisture content of the bread, making it easy to burn old dry slices. With experience it has become easy to set the incremented timing dial to suit the condition of the bread for perfect slices every time.

One toaster manufacturer has admitted defeat by introducing the ability to lift the bread out during cooking to check progress without turning the element off. With the Krups its all over before you know it and by using a bit of savvy about the condition of your bread you'll be enjoying your toast and marmalade while the others are still fiddling about with their lift mechanisms!

great toaster great looks, 2010-01-22
I bought this toaster,as I was disappointed with the one I had,which was a black 4 slice,which didn't pop up the toast,and the mechanism was noisy,and you had at least 2 attempts to get it to connect at the bottom and start toasting.It was only toasting the bottom of one slice,and I had to buy a set of wooden tongs to remove the toast,as even manually lifting the handle didn't bring it up far enough to remove it without burning your fingers.This Prestige one is lovely It is a lovely shade of dark red,which co-ordinates beautifully with my shiny red Ikea kitchen.It takes the big slices of Warburtons easily,albeit lengthways. The mechanism is so smooth . No more noisy clatter or having to fish about for the tongs. The toast is done perfectly and so smoothly and quietly. If you are looking for a bright,classy well made toaster,then this is the one for you.At the price Amazon is selling it for ,it's a bargain.It cost half of what my old toaster cost and is much more user friendly.Look no further. I also bought the red Prestige kettle and am very pleased with that, as you will read in my review of it

Single adult son in small flat requested a toaster for his birthday, and when I suggested this model, agreed that the reviews sounded good. He is extremely pleased with it - uses it with muffins, has heated sausages with it, etc, and regularly poaches breakfast eggs - a really good, clever idea that actually works. Full marks to Tefal!

We are delighted with this toaster,not only does it look good and matches our kettle exactly, it is an excellent 4 slice toaster with additional features we did not expect. It will rewarm toast, you have left done for a moment or two, it will defrost toast, and you can select different times for each pair of slices. Very Good would recommend to anyone!!!

philips hd2648/20 four slice toaster, 2010-01-30
The toaster was selected because of it's price being below £30 for a four slice, and the power rating of 1800w which makes it capable of quick brown slices. We have had no problems with this toaster and it appears to everything as advertised, although i would not recommend for very wide sliced bread as slot capacity is not to great. But this is a balance of what size toaster you want on your kitchen top, Overall i rate this a very good toaster, with lots of functions.

Best toaster on market, 2009-05-23
First saw this toaster on a visit to our son in New Zealand. Married for 30 years to Pat and we have never had a decent slice of toast from any of the previous toaster purchased. This toaster not only does the perfect toast but to individual requirement. I prefer well-done and Pat prefers lightly done. With this fantastic toaster you can have both AND both eat breakfast at the same time. What a bonus. This has to be the greatest toaster on the market today. We now need a deep fat fryer and it will have to be the De'Longhi but bit too pricey for us pensioners at the moment. Fantastic buy.
