This is great. Does what is says on the tin.
Would have been nice if the mains lead was a 'kettle' type so the lead could be removed and the cooker taken to the dinner table and used as a serving bowl.

Good, no frills cooker, 2009-08-11
This replaced my Tefal which was very good and lasted since the mid 80's but then started getting a little temperamental (switching off early). When I received the Kenwood, I realised that it was identical to the one just re-cycled, except that it had been tarted up a little. Excellent, I look forward to another couple of decades of reliable service. Pity they didn't include the rack for boiling eggs, which was also very useful, luckily, I salvaged the Tefal one from my recycling bin so all is perfect.

Perfect for the student on a budget!, 2010-02-15
Brought this compact little rice cooker being a single student on a budget who can't cook rice in a saucepan to save my life! It's absolutely perfect for 1 - 3 people, cooks fast and effiently, and is very easy to clean! The keep warm function is very effective, especially when you're cooking the rest of your meal, and even if you accidentally don't add enough water, it's easy enough to add a bit more and run the cook cycle again. It's cooked white and brown rice perfectly for me (altho brown rice takes a bit of experimenting to get right) and I imagine it'd do sushi rice fine too! So easy to just put it on and walk away and not worry about a thing!

Only minor complaint is the indentations on the rice bowl are a little difficult to make out, but otherwise this is perfect, I'd recommend it to all students and small families looking to make cheap easy rice!

Product still going strong 5 months since getting it. Don't use it much as a rice cooker as I live on my own and for the min of 4 cup requirement is too much for a single person, but I do use it for my pasta and love it.

Good for up to four people, 2009-11-11
Fills a gap for a small cheap rice cooker. About half the size of the Kenwood and Breville types. Works well providing you remember the following, which applies to all rice cookers:

1, wash rice at least four times to get rid of the starch, rub rice in fingers whilst washing

2, All rice cookers spit a bit when cooking unless you go for the pressurised rice pot type and they are more expensive

3, People often complain that the rice is undercooked and sticks to the bottom. Leave for 5 minutes after the cooker has popped. It wont stick and be just right

Wiping a little oil onto the inside surface of the bowl may help. Other than that nice rice in under 15 minutes with the minimum of electricity Why four stars? I don't think the non-stick surface looks very durable, but its no worse than others for more money

I am very happy with this rice cooker, it is really good for a cheap way to cook rice.
I have only had it for one day but it looks sturdy and i'm happy with the rice I made today.
It is to replace my old rice cooker and I prefer this one. Agree about other reviews about a lack of instructions but I put just under double the amount of water to rice, and it made lovely rice. Very pleased.
