Fills a gap for a small cheap rice cooker. About half the size of the Kenwood and Breville types. Works well providing you remember the following, which applies to all rice cookers:

1, wash rice at least four times to get rid of the starch, rub rice in fingers whilst washing

2, All rice cookers spit a bit when cooking unless you go for the pressurised rice pot type and they are more expensive

3, People often complain that the rice is undercooked and sticks to the bottom. Leave for 5 minutes after the cooker has popped. It wont stick and be just right

Wiping a little oil onto the inside surface of the bowl may help. Other than that nice rice in under 15 minutes with the minimum of electricity Why four stars? I don't think the non-stick surface looks very durable, but its no worse than others for more money

Its my 1st cooker which I bought for my dowry. I've used it at home for checking how to cook in this cooker. It does exactly what is mentioned in its description. I don't feel any need of buying any other cooker now. It has all functions what a cook looks in cooker(s). Unlike many other cookers, your hands won't burn with steam when you will open cooker during cooking the food.

Packing was excellent and delivery was prompt. I'll highly recommend this cooker. Especially, to those who can't afford to buy multiple cookers or have less space in the kitchen. Though it is a bit expensive, yet once you will start cooking in this cooker, you will forget about its price due to its multiple cooking functions and ease of use.

I've always cooked my own rice and judge water to rice ratio by eye. Its just something you pick up if you have had to make rice for over 20 years :-)
Anyway, I was at a friends one weekend and it just amazed me that they were able to concentrate on cooking the food rather than having to continually check the rice pot all of the time especially as there were 12 of us over for a spot of impromptu dinner.
When they'd finished cooking the chicken that we were having, they had piping hot, perfectly fluffy rice to go alongside, all thanks to this marvelous gadget.
Sure, you may be able to cook perfect rice or indeed porridge perfectly, but the convenience of just adding the ingredients and then just leaving it can't be beaten.
I am 100% converted and my wife who actually thinks she can cook better than I can, thinks so too :-)

Word of advise though. The kids will love using this for porridge, its just so easy to use. Just make sure your teenage draughtier doesn't pour porridge and milk straight in to the machine without the cooking bowl being inside of it. That will be the end of your pride and joy and you'll have to buy another one, like I just did :-(

Handy and efficient little rice cooker, 2010-09-04
This is a handly and efficient little rice cooker. Easy to keep clean. It works very well once you get used to the corect amount of water needed.
It is best (but not necessary)to soak the rice in cold water for at least half and hour before cooking. Soak the rice first, rinse until water is clear and then cook. Use about 1 cup of rice to 1.5 cup of water if your like your rice soft and moist. But if you soak your rice first, you use less water and need less cooking time, 8 mins. Max cooking time 10 mins for one cup of rice. BROWN rice needs more water and more time in the microwave. Rice always comes out perfect. Have used one of these for over 12 years.

This is an ideal rice cooker for two - four people. Its overall small size is perfect for the smaller kitchen. Fits into the cupboard with the rest of my pots and pans. We have tried more than one type of rice, Basmati, Red Camargue, Brown and wild rice. All perfect. You can put the rice on to cook at the start of the preparation of your meal and forget it until you serve up. The rice stays hot after cooking is complete and doesn't deteriorate. In fact it improves for being left for about 15 minutes. Just one thing, ignore the markings on the inside of the cooking pan! Measure the rice and the water in the plastic cup provided and you can't go wrong.
