I have always wanted one of these since my old 1960's Kenwood Chef broke which I had inherited from my Nan. The new Kenwood seemed very poorly made and I was introduced to the Kitchenaid machine by a lady in our local kitchen shop and it was love at first sight!! It has taken me a while to save but I now have one and I am totally thrilled!

The first thing you notice is the stunning retro looks and the shiny casing. The hardest decision to make is which colour to buy, thats a very personal thing as these mixers will probably last a lifetime. When you pick the Kitchenaid up you will be surprised at the sheer weight of the appliance, and the quality of the workmanship. Even the tools and bowl are as solid as can be.

The smooth speed switch is so simple to use and as the direct drive motor is at the top of the machine, it only uses part of the power needed by other machines which have their motor low down on the stand.

The only down side is that you are unable to use this up against a wall as you have the speed selector on one side and the release tilting catch on the other side, but this isnt an issue for me even though my kitchen is very small.

I agree with some other comments about the price of these machines in the UK being very high compared to America, where they are about a third of the price. Even so I am very pleased with mine and recommend this machine over the current Kenwood Chef anyday.

Light and easy to use. Much quieter than other mixers that I've had. Not much variation in the speeds but the settings are fine. Doesn't take so long to obtain the required consistency of a cake mix.

This machine is a dream to use. I too had the dilemma of KitchenAid or Kenwood - but the man in John Lewis was heavily biased as he'd worked for Kenwood for over 20 years! This is a solid quality machine and looks great, which is handy as it's left out on my worktop. I bought the cream one, because I refused to pay so much more for black (which I think would require constant cleaning) or an admittedly funky red one which I loved - but now I've got it, I am not at all bothered by the colour - don't be a sucker to clever marketing!

I agree with the issue over creaming butter and sugar and it sticking to the sides. As well as useful suggestions such as warming the bowl, I also make sure I use really soft butter at warm room temperature. It's been a problem for years - my mum had an old Kenwood 40 years ago and she had to scrape the sides way back then! Adjusting the beater per the instructions may also help. Once you start adding the eggs, it sorts itself out.

I do find when it's running fast, I can't hear the doorbell or the phone ring - but when you're cooking and the creative juices are flowing, who wants to be disturbed anyway? Suffice to say, it could be quieter, just as well it's only 500w power or I'd have permanent tinitus. I do highly recommend this mixer it's great value for money and on performance to date, I'm expecting it to last me for many years. I've also become strangely popular among friends and family who are happy to be guinea pigs for all the experiments I've been doing with it.

This product is quiet and efficient and does exactly what is says on the label. I know there is a wide range of hand mixers but this ticks all the boxes, is a reasonable price with all the attachments you require. It is light to handle but you may find the ejector button a little stiff.

Kenwood FP730 Multi Pro Food Processor (White)

Only had this new product a few weeks but have found it works very well. I'm not disappointed! In fact, I'm thrilled! 'Bought to replace a much older Kenwood version which was still working,by the way but had seen better days.

Superb soups have been blended, creative cakes...mixed, bread baked, pepper milled, orange juiced, coleslaw is a doddle to make, chips to delight my husband, vegetables sliced in seconds which is a wonderful help when I'm feeding my family of 13.

I used to put my old processor away each time I'd used it. Not this new one. It takes pride of place on my kitchen surface because it's forever in use. It's a good talking point when I have visitors. My sister has just purchased the same model after seeing mine and my recommendation!

The only gadget I haven't tried out yet, is the centrifugal juicer. This was one of the main reasons for replacing my old processor which didn't have this attachment. I trust it will continue to prove a worthy purchase when I next harvest the glut of fruit and vegetables from the garden later in the year!
