When the standard lightbulb was invented, naturally, we applauded. But science means progress - and the world is now looking for alternative ways to light up our homes. This is one of the best we've found. Inside the Sun Jar is a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and three low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in direct sunlight, the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. When it gets dark or lights are turned off, this energy powers the three natural-coloured LED lamps inside the jar. What an amazing idea. This product is larger and of a better quality than it looked on the picture.The postage was really quick and very well packaged. It's lovely to look at in the evening when it sits glowing on my window ledge. I feel like I've capture a little bit of the sun during the day, so I can use it at night. Without getting too gushing, it seems a bit magical. A great idea.

My wife loves having candles and tealights all over the house. I like the effect but hate having to repaint the walls every few months, and worrying that the house is going to burn down if we forget to put one out when we go to bed.

This product sorts out all of these problems, and saves me money too. We can now have candles wherever we want - the kids even take one each to bed - and not worry about any of the traditional problems of candles. Stick them on the charger every few days and that is that!

I am going to get a few more sets and hopefully replace every candle in our house!

Yes they don't come in a proper box, or have proper instructions, but this is only a slight inconvenience when compared to all of the advantages.

Been looking for ages for a replacement for my radio alarm clock, love the way it wakens you up naturally, although I do find the light on the clock a bit too bright during the night. Overall a great buy.

Previously we had used a simple energy efficient bulb in a lamp as a night light for the children but found this a little too bright for the middle of the night. After some research I purchased two of these.... Initial thoughts were " wow that's green" however during the night the light does give off a very nice moonlight type glow and now Id never use anything else. Amazon was also much more competitive in price to anywhere else I could find including ebay

Before the Gro-Clock
We bought this for our 3 year son who was waking up anything between 3 to 4 times a night calling out for us trying to get into our bed, due to lack of sleep he suceeded most nights.

After we purchased the gro-clock
After fulling explaining the concept to my son for the past week and from the very first night(since we have started using the clock) he has still woken up during the night but it has reduced from 4 times to just the once if that now. The main difference being that when he does wake up he still stayes in his room and falls back asleep straight away and generally will stay asleep well after the sun has appeared. When he does wake up in the night he doesn't leave his bedroom which is amazing, if we go in and tell him its night time and that he needs to sleep until the sun appears he does with no problem. Before the clock he would wake up and come straight in to our room desparate to climb in our bed.

Ps: Another good thing to say is that you can reduce the light on the clock, as my son has never slept with a light in his room, becuase of this we also turn the clock away from him and this still works for us.

Good, but be careful................, 2010-02-21
I've seen these lanterns in Thailand, where we let fifty odd off on Christmas Eve from our hotel beach, where they drifted gently out to sea. In my enthusiasm I ordered 10 for us to let off in the UK, and as the first one sailed into the sky, it occured to me that its landing point would be on land, not in the sea. I don't know where it went, and I hope it landed somewhere out of the way.

I've given them five stars, because they are fabulous and the delivery was prompt, so I have no issues with the product itself. Make sure that you use them responsibly.
