Fantastic -kids loved it! First use camping in Cornwall. Does need a fair ampount of ice.However graet family fun and a tasty treat for the kids at the end.Could only have benefitted from being able to make more ice cream!

I chose this model because you only have to freeze the disc that goes in the bottom of the machine. This takes up less room in the freezer than a bowl.

I've had this for a week now and am truly impressed. I've followed some recipes and also created recipes based on left-overs. Everything has turned out really well. I've not served ice-cream straight away, as I prefer it to be more solid. An additional hour or so in the freezer results in a beautifully creamy texture.

The only advice is that some of the recipes in the paperwork provided have errors. Best to check on the web, or buy a book of recipes.

The instruction book also mentions two settings - I've not found them!

Fabulous machine. Very easy to assemble, easy to use, easy to clean. Operation is pretty quiet. Makes the most delicious soft ice cream in less than 30 minutes, with just natural ingredients; you know exactly what's in it. The children keep asking for more. The bowls don't take up too much room in the freezer, and having two is great because you can make 2 litres at the same time or make consecutive batches. Worth every penny, and I'm delighted with it.

This is brilliant. I bought it having read ALL the reviews - positive and negative and have to say that some of the tips are vital (like making sure you've got the ice out of the little crevices or the top won't go on)... My own final tip would be to pour your mixture into a jug before putting it into the running machine - the pouring hole is quite small if you are pouring your mix from a bowl (or you need to be very accurate!).

Being armed with information, I was able to decide to buy the larger of the two machines, but I have a chest freezer. Once we've made a batch of ice-cream, the bowl goes back into the freezer for next time. You can only make one batch of ice-cream per day really, because after making a batch, the bowl has cooled down to such a degree that it isn't efficient enough to make another - you still need another 4hours minimum in a big freezer or overnight in a smaller one. If you follow the instructions this works perfectly and with excellent results. The recipe booklet is fairly limited and the quantities are for the smaller machine, so you need to experiment a little - Ben & Jerry's recipe book gives perfect quantities for the bigger machine (1.5L). Even when stored in the freezer for some time, it is still "soft scoop" type ice-cream.

My only negative comment is that it claims to make ice-cream in 20minutes - after this time, it still needs to set in the freezer - if you leave the mix in the machine for an hour it is likely to set quite solid and is difficult to remove, but serveable.

The first product I've been moved to review. It is just great! I bought this a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. Does just what it says. Sure its a bit fiddly to scrape the ice crystals down off the lid and the sides. I expected that. What I wish it had, is a "fill to here" line on the inside wall to prevent the overflow of liquid. I recommend setting it on a tea towel to contain spills and drips, then wrapping the towel up over then pot to keep it cold. Fine product, great packaging, yummy ice cream!

I bought this some time ago but having read some of the negative comments thought I would add my own thoughts. I have made ice cream several times with no problems and recently discovered the joys of frozen yoghurt using this machine. No problems at all, excellent results every time. My son particularly likes banana ice cream. Yes you do need to have a bit of space in the freezer but apart from that it makes the dessert quickly and not too noisily. If you do not eat the ice cream straight away and need to freeze it then yes it is firm when taken out of the freezer but just leave it out for 20 mins prior to serving then problem solved.
I thoroughly recommend this item.

Bought this for a christmas present and even thought it was expensive its worth every penny! It looks very sleek makes delicious ice cream etc and contrary to other opinions is not too noisy!It will stay out in the kitchen and will be used regularily. I would reccommend this product highly.

I bought the Cuisinart ice cream maker for my husband who is a serious ice cream fiend!
No more shop bought ice cream for us - it is so easy to use and no problem to clean. It is also relatively quick to produce the finished product. I prefer the softer consistency it produces which is more like a thick milk shake, but after half an hour in the fridge it hardens well.
Yes, it is noisy but that is the only negative I can find.
No need to buy another recipe book, the one that comes with it has lots of delicious recipes.

Bought this ice cream maker on a whim, as my partner was drooling over the reviews. More than pleased with the results, though our constant ice cream making may have shortened our already brief summer. No problems and no complaints. The freezing disc lives in the freezer and we have fun deciding which flavour to make next. I've found we can get away with a lower fat whipping cream in the vanilla ice cream recipe and use a few drops of vanilla extract (never essence!) in place of the vanilla sugar and it comes out just fine. Visiting kids are fascinated by it and enjoy the results!

Quite frankly I cannot believe some of reviews of this gadget - it's only got 5 pieces including the bowl, how hard can it be to put it together!! Honestly, if you can't tie your own shoelaces then don't buy this, it's not for you! For everyone else it's dead easy to put together and use. Leave the bowl in the freezer, make your mixture, chill the mixture in the fridge, get the bowl out of the freezer when ready and off you go. 15-30mins later you will have gorgeous soft ice cream.

Make sure you whisk the mixture well, one vital ingredient most of the recipes miss out is air.
