I was a bit sceptical about buying these sponges when I ordered my new George Foreman Grill, but I'm glad I did. After wiping the main residue off with kitchen towel (while the plates are still quite warm), a quick wipe with a damp sponge does the trick. I used to use a dishcloth on my old grill, but that often resulted in burnt fingers! The sponge is far more effective.

Average rating of 5/5 Expensive but Well Worth It!!!, 2010-08-09
I absolutely love this grill - although I have to preface this review by saying that I have only had 2 grills previously, both George Foreman and I found them awful!

Firstly, appearance! It looks very stylish, so for those of you who don't want more ugly plastic kitchen junk cluttering your kitchen, this is your grill.

It's very easy to use, obviously you should always read the manual before using, but it's not rocket science! To turn it on, you simply select if you want to use the Grill or Griddle and adjust the temperature. The light on it will go from red (in heat up) to green when it's at the right temperature.

So far we have cooked bacon, chicken, beefburgers, pork steaks, kebabs and warmed up buns on the plates for the burgers (great to mop up a few of the juices from cooking). The only thing that didn't work as I'd hoped was the veg kebabs - I ended up eating scorched but still ultimately raw veg! This was my mistake though, I find it easier to cook these in the closed position now. The floating hinge is brilliant, keeping the plates flat on chunky steaks, burgers etc. It will normally cook food very quickly in the closed position which is great. We bought the grill because using the oven heats our flat up horrendously, not nice in the summer. This grill can get very hot if you want it to, but cooks so quickly you only need to use it for a short while and it doesn't create nearly as much heat as the oven.

My favourite two things to cook are chicken burgers (slice chicken breast in half horizontally and bash it out to about 1 cm thick then pop it on the grill on medium for around 2-3 minutes (in closed position, still check it's cooked through, but this is generally more than enough!). Pop it on a freshly toasted ciabatta roll with some lettuce, mayo and cheese, yum! Also homemade beefburgers (make them short but thick as the weight of the top plate will squidge them down a bit) just 500g beeg mince, egg and onion (and chilli if you like) mixed together with seasoning. Takes around 5 minutes on the griddle on medium in the closed position. Put it in a toasted bun with ketchup, better than maccy ds!

The 2 types of plates (flat and ridged) easily clip in and out of place and can go in the dishwasher - they generally clean up brilliantly in the dishwasher, but a damp cloth will remove any food residues that the dishwasher leaves on very easily.

This is an expensive grill, but it's just brilliant and definitely worth the money. It saves us masses of time over using a griddle pan (which never cleaned up as well), saves the heat from the oven and faster than that too. This is definitely the summer cooking accessory for hot homes! The only thing I would say is it probably isn't as healthy as a George Foreman, due to the higher heat and being flat instead of sloped (to drain the fat off) but it tastes much better with the juices in it rather than being drained off.

A splendid addition to any kitchen, although only really large enough for two portions. For one or two people - excellent and economical on power and space. The removable grill plates are an excellent idea and they are said to be dishwasher proof although I find it best to soak them in hot soapy water then use the excellent GF cleaning sponges specially designed for them. I am not too happy with the idea of putting them in the dishwasher because the backs of the plates appear to be aluminium which is discoloured by my dishwasher detergent. Highly recommended!

Move to a healthier lifestyle without moving away from grilled foods with the George Foreman Junior Grill. Already a phenomenal success in the US where it has sold over 25 million units across the range, the George Foreman Junior Grill is a healthy alternative to conventional grilling. Whatever you grill--be it meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, seafood or even sandwiches--any excess fat or liquids is channelled down the grooves in the grill and into a collection tray at the front of the unit. Also, as the machine sandwiches the food between two grills, cooking time is also reduced as both sides cook at once and spitting is practically nonexistent because the food is encased in the grill. Works a treat and got it at a good price from Amazon. The removable plates clean up very easily. My only concern is that the springs, which are part of the removable plate catch mechanism, may give problems later, either through rusting or contamination when washed in the sink. Being a Ludite we don't have a dishwasher.

That said, it is not really necessary to immerse them fully in water to get either of them clean. All in all a good product.George Foreman 14525 Family Removable Plates Grill and Melt - Brushed Steel, 4 Portion

Average rating of 5/5 busy mum surprised by grill!, 2010-09-02
I purchased this grill and used for first time today. Mealtimes in our house are mad! The kids are hungry so i normally have to opt for something that is quick to cook and not much hassle. Tonight we cooked steak & chicken on the grill. 10 portions? Mmm im not so sure, maybe on certain things you cook, but the chicken breasts we cooked we could only fit 8. It heated up very quickly, and the food was cooked lovely and quite quick. Alot quicker then when i use my cooker! And cleaning? I had no trouble at all, i waited for it to cool down, but slightly warm still, and wiped a damp sponge over it. Voila! Lovely and clean. The instruction booklet is simple to follow & gives some very infomative tips and some lovely receipe suggestions. I am very pleased with this purchase and well worth the money!

Average rating of 5/5 Jamie Oliver Health Grill, 2010-08-14
We purchased this health grill to replace our 6 year old Tefal Minute Grill, which fell apart after many years of faithful service.
This model appears to be an updated version of the Minute Grill with Jamie Oliver splashed all over the top of it.
None the less for this, we are very pleased with the improvements made such as the extra drip tray, the removable power cable. Though I do have reservations as to how long the plastic cable holder will last. Being able to store the grill on its end is great idea for saving cupboard space/work top space. The only down side that I have found is that the extra drip tray has to be stored seperatly to the main unit. it would have been better if like the other drip tray it was an integral part of the grill. As with the minute grill the drip trays & grill plates are dish washer safe, so easily cleaned.
As for the performence of the grill, as we would expect from Tefal it is excelent & fullfils all our requirements as did the minute grill.
The price of this grill is more expensive than other brands, but We feel that the quality of the product speaks for it's self.
The manual was informative on the use of the grill though limited in relation to recipes, it would have been Pukka if we had a few recipes from the man who's name is all over the grill.
On the whole very pleased with our purchase & look forward to many years of happy grilling!
