What a great little machine! No more moans and groans that the eggs are hard boiled! Eggs are done just as we like them but I can see problems if several members of the family want different textures of egg. I have tried whipping one out a bit earlier for someone wanting a particularly soft boiled egg and it was successful. Find it less troublesome than a pan on the cooker boiling away. All in all this item is used regularly and does a very efficient job and the buzzer is loud enough to let you know when the eggs are done, so there's no walking away and forgetting how long they've been boiling away. I have no trouble in recommending this item.

Ah-mazing

Just used it for the first time, so far so good.

Durability aside (since I've only just used it for first time), this is one awesome piece of kit, felt like they took no time at all especially as I didn't have to worry about them.

Cooking time is dependent on how much water you add and there is a guideline on measuring tube for softness and quantity.

Even if you went 6 hard-boiled eggs, this uses a surprisingly small amount of water to help with efficiency and means theres no steamy windows in the kitchen.

Alarm is loud and travels well.

Only one note:
*The heat element looks like stainless steel: while it wiped fairly easily first time, through use it might start building up, going to try wipe a pre-coat with oil or use softened water.

THIS EGG BOILER IS A GREAT ITEM, JUST PUT IT ON WHILE YOUR PREPARING OTHER THINGS, NO CHANCE OF IT BOILING DRY BECAUSE YOU FORGOT YOU HAD PUT IT ON (A FAVOURITE TRICK OF MINE)AS IT SOUNDS AN ALARM WHEN ITS READY. THE MEASURING CUP IS BRILLIANT TOO WITH ITS LITTLE EGG PIERCER UNDERNEATH IT DOESN'T TAKE LONG TO GET THE HANG OF IT (I HAVN'T BROKEN AN EGG YET) ALSO THERE IS NO MESSY SAUCEPAN TO CLEAN BECAUSE ONE OF THE EGG HAS BROKEN EITHER, JUST A WIPE AROUND THE BOWL ITS GREAT. I WISH I HAD BOUGHT ONE A LONG TIME AGO.
THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TOO BE CAREFUL OF IS NOT TO PUT YOUR ARM OVER THE AIR HOLE WHEN SWITCHING IT OFF AS YOUR LIKELY TO GET BURNT SO I WOULD SAY TURN IT OFF AT THE SWITCH ON THE BASE, THEN TAKE THE LID OFF, THEN SWITCH IT OFF AT THE SOCKET THAT WAY THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN BURN YOURSELF.
SO ALL IN ALL I WOULD SAY A GOOD BUY, CLEAN TO USE AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE I WOULD GIVE IT 10 OUT OF 10.

Better Way to Boil Eggs, 2010-03-04
We bought this to replace an old egg cooker bought in the 1990s whilst living in Germany. Since then we have never boiled an egg in a saucepan and we fail to understand why anyone would want to do so when there is a far better alternative.

On this model the electronic timer is spot on, giving perfect "dippy" eggs or nicely soft for sandwiches or hard for slicing.

More importantly it uses less energy, just 400w to heat 100mL water, compeered with 1.5Kw to boil a saucepan with enough water to cover eggs: as that wretched advertisement says: "every little helps".

If you eat boiled eggs this is the product for you! Oh, it is well made, seems robust and it looks rather smart. As it is rectangular, compared with most other models, it fits in a cupboard shelf well.
