This is a very good waffle maker. It is fairly idiot-proof and makes nice waffles. We are not professionals but have managed to make delicious waffles nonetheless.
The browning options are useful as far as we've experienced. However there is an issue with the mixture overflowing out onto the kitchen surfaces, therefore one has to be careful it does not go to close to the edges of the plates, but if it doesn't go far enough your waffles appear to have tentacles. Oil on the plates seems like a good idea, but too much makes it stick (in our past attempts) to the plates. We've had trouble with the waffles becoming adhered to the non-stick surfaces, although its not a serious problem as we've been able to extract our waffles fairly unharmed (this depends on how perfect looking you the waffles to be - they taste good all the same).
The provided recipes are useful and so far seem to be effective, with the exception of the banana and almond recipe (we did it without almonds) which seemed to be lacking in the distinct banana flavour we hoped for though this could probably be rectified by an increased quantity of mashed banana. For the more health- and weight-conscious, the recipes can be done without the oil or butter and still produces a tasty yield.
All in all, rather splendid indeed. We highly recommend to the amateur waffle-enthusiast.

 Why is this not supplied with a basic recipe?, 2010-07-29
Received this today and my daughter was looking forward to making some donuts, however, most frustratingly, this machine does not have a recipe sheet included. Surely this would be standard practice for a domestic small kitchen appliance? It certainly is for sandwich toasters, bread makers, smoothie machines, microwaves, etc. I bought a donut recipe book to go with this but it only has recipes for heavy donut mix that must be rolled out and cut, not poured.
Come on Elgento, it would cost you virtually nothing to provide this - the instruction leaflet even has blank spaces where this could be printed.
So - does this machine work - I don't know. What a disappointment.
