Received the fryer and immediately set it up to make chips as per the manual. 190deg C for 6 minutes. Our Maris Piper potatoes were burnt dark brown and inedible. Tried again at 160 deg C still no better. we think the thermostat is faulty and the jam thermometer indicated temp was +10 deg C over that indicated. The unit is basic and oil removal was by pouring it out.
The manual was pathetic - like a photocopy! There was no real recipe cook book - zilch - just the manual indicating 'recommended' temperatures. Surely Delongi company wants customer satisfaction - not a flung together package. We were misled by the nice picture of the unit but this purchase was a big mistake. Will be contacting Delongi tomorrow for replacement.

This wok is ideal for someone who doesn't have access to a cooker, but wants to prepare decent food quickly. I can cook a full English breakfast in mine, or do a damn' good stir-fry for two.
I would recommend this wok to anyone who can cook. If you can't cook - don't bother. Stick with the baked beans.

Possibly my most hated household chore has got to be cleaning out the deep fat fryer. If this is the case with you & you have a dishwasher or access to one this is the fryer for you. The whole thing comes apart and can be put through the dishwasher - apart from the electrical element of course - and it comes out sparkling. No more scrubbing & no more dingy plastic fryer on the worktop hurrah!
The temperature control makes for perfect frying, especially those triple fried homecut chips. However You need to keep the food moving at regular intervals (as the basket rests on the heating element). There isn't a filter, so you need to get it under a cooker hood (place on a heat resistant glass surface saver on top of your unlit hob) but the chips are probably crisper as a result.
The only minor gripe I have is the plastic handle (which folds into the basket).
When you take the fryer out it drips a small amount of oil on whatever surface it is on.
When you are putting it away you have to wait 2 hours before you can put the handle back(otherwise it will melt spectacularly - as my mum found out to her cost ). But this I will forgive on account of the cleanability, performance & reliabilty.

I bought this the Breville Fryer on 6th February, 2010. A friend told me his parents had purchased one. I have had fryers before, and always assumed they needed a lid while frying. When this one came I was a bit worried, because the lid is removed during frying.Dont know why I was worried at all. It is fantastic, and cooks wonderfully, in half the time of any other fryer I have had.

I was so excited to get this fryer home, I had wanted a fryer for a very long time but was always put off by the cleaning and the smell of oil, so after reading through loads negative reviews on other fryers, the breville DF28 seemed to have more positives than negatives, it ticked all the boxes on ease of use and simple cleaning.
Well i wasn't dissapointed. it is easy to set up, it has removable parts for easy cleaning,it cooks the food deliciously enough for two at one go,it's easy to use. I followed one reviewers advice on putting the fryer on a chopping board under the extractor hood and although that helps alot, i have now found that placing the fryer on a sturdy place just outside my kitchen door is the best, no smell in the house, that's if you have a back garden, of course, if not the extractor fan is sufficient. it's a nice design as well, modern and compact. I rate this product 10 stars!! no faults at all!!
