Thought I had a bargain with this item but wished I'd gone for one a little more expensive (or maybe not...?) This is fine albeit very slow on thin cans i.e. baked beans but anything a little thicker such as a small tin of salmon don't bother it is useless unless you are prepared to assist it! It starts opening then stops, you fiddle, it starts then stops, 20 minutes later your can is open YAY! - very disappointed but I suppose you get what you pay for. Have used it 3 times, twice to open smalls tins with great frustration and once on a large tin and it has been in the drawer ever since. I have gone back to using my original can opener:(

I bought this can opener for my 95 year old mother who is riddled with arthritis. I wasn't holding my breath on her ability to use it, but, she is well pleased with it and has no problems. I recommend it without reservation.

I have to totally disagree with the first reviewer.

I have had one of these for two years and it has worked faultlessly.

I am buying another as my young son has unknowingly put it in with the washing up, and thus water has damaged this one, and I will not pay needless amounts for other Brand names when this model works perfectly well.

These are easy and safe to clean by simple removal of the cover which is a bonus too.

I also bought 7 of these, albeit from a different seller, as presents for friends and family, all of whom report perfect working order for these over the same two year period.

4 of those whom I have bought for are disabled, as am I, and have difficulty with cans and are very very happy with their openers.

In summary.

Great product. Great price. Great Reliability.

After buying numerous can openers(electrical and mechanical)and finding that most of them did not open the can without a struggle or not at all, I decided to follow the reviews of this product on AMAZON and purchase this excellent item.I have only used the opener about 10 times so far and it is the easiest can opener I have ever used and amazingly it leaves no sharp edges on the can or the lid.IF this product maintains this level of operation I would have no hesitation in recommending this to other buyers seeking a quality can opener.

I received one of these Alessi bottle openers and was impressed by the fact it arrives in a little box, securely held in a polystyrene insert, almost like a jewellery box.

It has a chic design and is very easy to handle, but I admit it did take me a little getting used to. I also had to refer to the enclosed leaflet to understand how it works; once I got the hang of it, though, it works very well and does not mark easily.

It is very good quality and of a reassuring weight without being cumbersome. It's a good investment and offers good value for money as I cannot see how it could break and it's easy to clean.
