cannot stop baking, 2010-08-30 I bought this machine a few weeks ago and I cannot stop making bread!!!!! it's wonderful I like the raisin and cinnamon loaf YUM! I cannot go back to store bought......I have had no problems with it and I would thoughly recommend it, I know some people have had problems and I did think twice about buying it, but boy am I glad I decided to try it....so easy to use and the smell of bread wafting through the house is delicious....Yes I can highly recommend this item....I am thinking of buying one for my son as he moves shortly and he has stomach problems digesting shop bought bread, but home made bread is a breeze for him, at least we know what goes into it!

Brilliant breadmaker, 2010-08-30 Having researched just about every breadmaker on the market, I settled on this one.
Excellent in every way, especially the viewing window so that you can check on progress.
It helps if you slightly oil the paddle, making the bread easier to remove without a hole in the bottom.
I also made jam with some leftover strawberries - it tasted fine but the texture was a little heavy, not like normal jam consistency.
The recipe book which comes with the machine is clear and informative with excellent pictures and a good selection of recipes.

first class breadmaker, 2010-08-23 We've had a Morphy Richards breadmaker for the last 10 years or more. It had done well but had become unreliable as the pan kept popping away from the drive. After looking at numerous reviews we chose the SD-256WXC; one reason was that my wife now has a gluten allergy and there is a gluten-free setting on this model.
As soon as it arrived we tried a basic white loaf, and the result was absolute perfection! I was a bit hesitant about following the recipe from the Panasonic book as it said that the yeast and flour should go in first, with the water on top. This was the complete opposite of what we did with our old breadmaker. Anyway we precisely followed instructions and got a perfect loaf. We've also done a loaf with granary flour, using the timer overnight, and again a perfect loaf with a beautiful crisp crust. It's great to be able to make different size loaves, and select how well done you want the crust.
I like the way the pan locks in place with a simple twist; there is no chance that this will 'pop out' like our old one. Also (so far) the paddle has remained in the pan when the bread is removed, leaving a nice clean cut; you don't have to dig it out of the hot loaf. In addition this breadmaker does a proper shape loaf, not a tall square one like our old model.
My only slight disappointment is that the baking cycle is a bit longer than our old one; 4 hours for a basic white, compared with 2hours 45mins. But that's a small price to pay for a really good loaf.

Bread Machine, 2010-09-02 This is the second Panasonic Breadmaker I have had, the first one I used extensively over about 4 years but unfortunately the programme faulted so I have the SD 257WXC and it surpases the first one and every loaf I have baked has been excellent

13 years on and its still going strong!, 2010-05-19 Yes, thats right! Ive had this bread maker for 13 years, 14 in July! Ive never had one moment of trouble with it. Constantly reliable, I have taken it for granted that the bread is always perfect and tastes wonderful. I havent bought much bread over the years, and I have now made a name for myself as being 'Granny with the fresh bread'!
My family expect to come home to freshly made bread when they call which is no problem as its so easy to throw in all the ingredients and press a button. I keep all the ingredients in a plastic box in a cupboard under the breadmaker, many of the items needed I buy in double quantities so I always have them in 'stock'. I no longer need to look at the recipes as I have made so much bread that they are permanently etched in my brain!I have just ordered a new blade to replace the old one as it has started to stick in the pan when I turn the bread out, not much of a crime after all the dough its made over the years! The recipes are handy and I have experimented over the years but I tend to stick to the white loaf 2lb loaf, however I put a cup of brown flour in too, have done for years and those in my family who only eat 'white' bread still have no idea, ha ha!
Waking up at 7am to the house smelling of freshly baked bread is wonderful, what more could anyone wish for? Perhaps a cup of freshly ground coffee to go with it, perfect!

New to breadmaking, 2010-02-26 I purchased this bread maker because it was recommended by a friend. The recipes in the booklet provided are limited, but good enough to start with. I have now made 6 loaves, and after having one which did not rise, and one which did rise but was like a brick (both tasted wonderful), the third was a success. I have now managed to replicate this success and whilst experimenting and altering the mixes slightly. A bit noisy to start with, so I don't use the delay start. The paddle leaves a very small hole and the bread comes out of the tin easily. I thoroughly recommend this product. I enjoy it so much I have had to put myself on a diet!
